If you do Crossfit regularly like 4-5 times per week, you understand how important body recovery is.
While there’s nothing like doing the wod and finishing it, usually the next morning is where the pain kicks in.
I call it the zombie walk.
It’s those first steps getting out of bed heading towards the bathroom.
Every step is slow, stiff, and you may let out an occasional grunt or two.
As you get older, you have to take body recovery much more seriously as you don’t naturally recover like you used to.
That’s why we got into the CBD space in the first place.
We wanted to recover our bodies properly without using any prescription meds or over the counter pills.
Body Recovery Options
Most of us do Crossfit because we want to live a healthy lifestyle.
When we wake up really sore, with a ton of lactic acid buildup, we usually do a couple of these things…
- We stretch and roll out our sore muscles
- We use massage balls or impact guns to do a deep tissue fascia release
- We ‘man up’ and just suffer with the uncomfortableness
- We might reach for an ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatory product when things are bad enough
While #1 & #2 are activities we should do anyways, and #3 happens far too often, #4 is where it can get dangerous.
It’s no secret that ibuprofen is not good for your kidneys.
While ibuprofen just masks the pain, the benefits you get don’t even come close to the ramifications it can have on your overall health, long term.
That’s why so many Crossfitters are turning to CBD oil as an alternative to ibuprofen.
Everyone is talking about it, and athletes are swearing by it because it works.
And since doing Crossfit means you’re subscribing to a healthy way of life, taking plant-based medicines is a logical choice.
Why Does CBD Oil Work So Well For Body Recovery?
First and foremost, most CBD oil is derived from the hemp plant, which is part of the cannabis species.
That makes CBD a plant-based product, not a man-made product.
It’s important to know that the cannabis species has 2 plants… hemp and marijuana.
Both marijuana and hemp have THC and CBD in them, but marijuana is high in THC, while hemp is high in CBD.
In a nutshell, THC gets you high, CBD gets you healthy! 🙌
The reason CBD works so well in Crossfit recovery is that CBD is amazing at reducing inflammation.
So when you take your body to the limit and beat it up, CBD steps right in and fights back with great force… and efficiency.
Not only that, studies show CBD oil also helps with sleep, anxiety, depression, digestion, arthritis, among other things.
But the best part is that CBD is 100% safe, non-habit forming, and you absolutely can’t overdose on it.
The only thing that might happen is getting a little tired and sleeping like a baby. 😴
To that point, every 19 minutes someone dies from a prescription drug overdose, while no one has ever died from a cannabis overdose.
How To Take CBD Oil Correctly
It’s actually very simple.
While there are many different forms of CBD oil (vapes, edibles, topicals), we will be talking about tinctures here.
A tincture is typically a 1oz (30ml) bottle of CBD oil that comes in different strength dosages (250mg, 500mg, 1000mg, etc)
All you do is take a 1/2 a dropper and put the oil under your tongue and hold it there for 60-90 seconds.
You do that so the oil works with the capillaries in your mouth and gets in your bloodstream efficiently.
Each person is different in size and body composition, and their needs will vary, so there is no ‘one size fits all’ dosage amount.
Typically, start with a 1/2 dropper once per day and up the dosage or lower the dosage as needed.
I personally take a dropper in the morning and evening.
The most important thing is you ABSOLUTELY must take it daily.
You have to build up the CBD in your system and you can’t do that unless you do it everyday.
Think about it… you don’t get a great Fran time without working out consistently.
You don’t gain 10lbs of muscle without lifting weights consistently.
Therefore, you won’t get the benefits of CBD unless you use it… consistently.
My Personal Results With CBD Oil
I’ve been taking CBD oil daily for over a year now and I don’t have to guess if it’s worked for me…
I KNOW it’s working for me, and I love it.
Remember that zombie walk I mentioned at the beginning?
That was me almost every day.
The struggle was real just getting out of bed.
I would be so sore and stiff that going from a laying down position to a vertical position occasionally released some of those grunts.
Now… I just pop out of bed and walk right to the bathroom.
I sleep great and honestly, I wake up way less sore.
That doesn’t mean I don’t wake up sore, just way way way less.
And the biggest thing I remember feeling one day was just a sense of peace inside my body.
What I mean by that is I just had this distinct feeling of being at ease and relaxed, and I didn’t have the tension I normally had.
It’s like my body just took a big ‘chill pill’ and finally took a break.
Where You Can Get Good Quality CBD Oil
While there unfortunately are some bad actors in the CBD space, we can guarantee our CBD oil is the highest quality.
Our CBD is 100% made in the USA, organic, non-GMO, formulated for athletes, full-spectrum, and 3rd party lab tested.
The last part about being lab tested is important because the lab tests produce a Certificate of Analysis, or COA, that basically tells you exactly what’s in that CBD oil.
If any company can’t produce a COA for their products, proceed with extreme caution.
We have our lab results listed on our site, which can be found here.
Our CBD oil was formulated with high-intensity athletes in mind.
The last time I checked, what we do in Crossfit definitely would be considered high-intensity training.
For the Crossfit athlete, I recommend our 500mg Peppermint CBD Oil and our 200mg Topical Pain Relief Spray.

Here is our 200mg Pain Relieving Spray.
If you’re not 100% sure about CBD oil and would like to try a sample first, we got you covered.
In fact, we’ll give you the sample for free.
All we ask is you help cover the cost of shipping.
